Since 1987, Dance Precisions has been Orange County's premier destination for dance education. Now in our 38th season, we serve dancers ages 2–18 across a full spectrum of training — from our Little Dancin' Shoes program for our youngest movers, to recreational Academy classes, Performance Teams, and championship-winning Competition Teams.

Our 20,000 sq ft facility in Anaheim Hills features six spacious studios with professional-grade sprung floors, and we offer classes in Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Hip Hop, Lyrical/Contemporary, K-Pop, and Tumbling. Our alumni have gone on to perform on Broadway, in film and television, and on tour with artists like Beyoncé, Katy Perry, and Taylor Swift.

The Role

Ballroom is where technique meets connection, and we're building a program that gives teens and adults a real place to learn it — from first-time social dancers to students ready to compete. The Teen / Adult Ballroom Dance Instructor leads our ballroom curriculum across Smooth/Standard, Latin/Rhythm, and social styles, teaching group classes and private lessons and guiding students who want to take their dancing further.

A typical week includes teaching group classes and privates across levels, developing curriculum and progressions, prepping couples for weddings, showcases, and social events, and coaching students on an optional competitive/showcase track toward Pro-Am and amateur competition. This is a chance to build a teen and adult program with real backing — welcoming to beginners, and serious about technique for those who want to go further.

This role reports to the Studio Director.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach across the ballroom spectrum — Lead group classes and private lessons in Smooth/Standard (Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Viennese Waltz, Quickstep), Latin/Rhythm (Cha-Cha, Rumba, Samba, Jive, Bolero), and social/club styles (Salsa, Bachata, Swing, Hustle). Meet students where they are, from absolute beginners to advanced.
• Build curriculum and clear progressions — Own the syllabus and level structure for teen and adult ballroom. Set clear standards for technique, timing, lead-and-follow, partnering, and floorcraft, so students always know what comes next.
• Develop the competitive and showcase track — Coach students who want to go further toward Pro-Am and amateur competition, studio showcases, and social performances. Choreograph routines and prepare couples and individuals to step onto the floor with confidence.
• Prepare couples for real-world moments — Teach wedding-dance lessons, anniversary and event dances, and social-dance skills couples can actually use. Keep it approachable, fun, and confidence-building.
• Deliver detailed, technique-focused feedback — Give every student specific, actionable corrections rooted in solid ballroom technique. Generic praise is not enough — our students should feel seen, corrected, and improving.
• Show up on time, every time — Arrive a minimum of 10 minutes prior to each class or lesson, prepared and ready to teach. When a conflict is unavoidable, you are responsible for securing a qualified substitute in advance and getting them vetted and approved by studio leadership before the class.
• Communicate proactively with students and staff — Keep students informed about progress, expectations, showcases, competitions, and event logistics. Respond to student and front-desk inquiries promptly and professionally. Clear, consistent communication is non-negotiable.
• Participate in showcases and studio events — Attend and support studio showcases, social dances, and competitions. Coordinate music, routines, and logistics so every student is prepared and supported on performance day.

Qualifications

Required

• Ballroom teaching experience — Real experience teaching ballroom to teens and/or adults, in both group and private settings, across a range of levels. Comfortable teaching both lead and follow roles.
• Range across styles — Strong command of Smooth/Standard and Latin/Rhythm technique, plus social/club styles (Salsa, Bachata, Swing). Able to teach partnering, timing, lead-and-follow, and floorcraft.
• Competitive or showcase background — Experience preparing students for Pro-Am/amateur competition, showcases, or performances — or a competitive background of your own. Choreography experience for routines and social pieces.
• Availability — Available weekday evenings and weekends, when our teen and adult students train, with availability through showcase and competition cycles. Comfortable teaching both scheduled group classes and private lessons.
• Great with adults and teens alike — Warm, patient, and encouraging with beginners; rigorous and motivating with students who want to advance.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Must pass a background check (required for all staff working with minors).

Preferred (Nice to Have)

• Professional ballroom or DanceSport performance and competitive experience.
• Certification through a recognized body (e.g., NDCA, DVIDA, ISTD, or equivalent).
• Experience teaching wedding-dance or event choreography.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus for social-dance students.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation: Hourly, commensurate with experience.
