Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Dance Precisions programs, classes, and policies.
Getting Started
Enrollment is easy! Start by booking a trial class or scheduling a studio tour. This allows your child to experience our programs firsthand and helps us recommend the best class placement.
After the trial class, if you'd like to enroll, our staff will guide you through the registration process, including completing enrollment forms and setting up tuition payments.
New students can book a trial class for just $5. This gives your dancer the opportunity to experience our teaching style, meet our instructors, and explore our state-of-the-art facility. We'll also provide a tour and help answer any questions you have about our programs.
Dance Precisions serves dancers ages 2 through adult. We offer age-appropriate programs for every stage:
- Little Dancin' Shoes (ages 2-5): Music, movement, and structure for our youngest dancers
- Academy (ages 6+): Single-style classes in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Tumbling, Lyrical/Contemporary, and KPOP
- Premiere Teams (ages 3+): Novice competition program - no audition required
- The Company (ages 6+): Intermediate to advanced competition teams - audition required
For trial classes, comfortable athletic wear (leggings, fitted top, bare feet or dance shoes) is perfect. Once enrolled, each program has specific dress code requirements to ensure safety and proper technique instruction. We'll provide detailed dress code information during enrollment.
Programs & Classes
Little Dancin' Shoes is our program designed specifically for ages 2-5. We combine music, movement, and structure in a nurturing environment that builds confidence, coordination, and creativity.
Classes include Ballet, Jazz/Tap, Hip Hop, and Basic Movement. Our experienced instructors understand early childhood development and create a fun, engaging atmosphere where young dancers can thrive. Students have two performance opportunities each year: our Holiday Concert and Summer Dance Concert.
The Academy program offers single-style classes for dancers ages 6 and up. Students can choose from Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Tumbling, Lyrical/Contemporary, and KPOP classes that focus on building strong technical foundations while exploring their artistic expression. Academy classes meet once per week, and students have two performance opportunities each year: our Holiday Concert and Summer Dance Concert.
The Community Performance Group is a non-competitive performance opportunity for dancers ages 6 and up. It's perfect for dancers who want to perform without the commitment of competition - whether you're new to dance or returning after a break.
Dancers meet once per week to learn choreography and perform at studio showcases and community events. No audition required - all experience levels are welcome!
Coming Season 39 (2026-2027). Join the waitlist to be notified when registration opens.
We offer instruction in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Contemporary, Tumbling, and KPOP. Our comprehensive curriculum ensures dancers develop well-rounded skills while discovering their favorite styles.
Absolutely! All of our programs welcome male dancers. We also offer RASCALZ, our all-boys performance troupe that performs at community events throughout the year. We celebrate and support male dancers at every level.
Yes! We encourage dancers to explore multiple styles. Taking classes in different disciplines helps develop well-rounded technique and artistry. We offer flexible scheduling and tuition options for students taking multiple classes.
Competition Programs
Dance Precisions offers competition programs at multiple levels:
- Premiere Teams (ages 3+): The bridge between Academy and The Company. Our novice competition program competes at regional competitions and is perfect for dancers ready to begin their competition journey. No audition required - everyone makes the team!
- The Company (ages 6+): Our intermediate to advanced competition teams compete at regional and national levels. With age divisions including Minis, Juniors, Teens, and Senior, The Company is for serious dancers pursuing excellence. Audition required.
Competition programs require a higher level of commitment, including multiple weekly classes and competition travel.
Competition team auditions for The Company are typically held in the spring for the following season. Premiere Teams do not require an audition - everyone who signs up makes the team!
We announce audition dates through our newsletter, social media, and in-studio communications. Schedule a call or studio tour to learn more about our competition programs and find the right fit for your dancer.
Competition programs require significant commitment. Performance Program dancers typically attend 2-4 classes per week plus rehearsals. Company dancers attend 4-8+ classes per week plus additional rehearsals. Both programs require attendance at competitions (typically 3-6 weekends per season) and mandatory rehearsals leading up to events.
Competition team costs include:
- Monthly tuition for required classes
- Competition fees (entry fees for each routine)
- Costumes for each routine
- Travel expenses (hotels, meals, transportation)
- Team apparel and accessories
- Team events and activities (team building, holiday party, etc.)
We provide detailed cost breakdowns during the audition process so families can make informed decisions.
Tuition & Payment
Tuition varies based on the program and number of classes. We offer competitive pricing and multi-class discounts. Contact our office at (714) 777-7772 or hello@danceprecisions.com for current tuition rates and package options.
Tuition is billed monthly and due on the 1st of each month. We offer convenient automatic payment options through credit card or ACH bank transfer. Late fees may apply to payments received after the 10th of the month.
Yes! We offer family discounts when multiple siblings are enrolled. Contact our office for details on current discount programs.
We require 30 days written notice for withdrawal. If you need to withdraw from classes, please submit your notice in writing by the 1st of the month. You will be responsible for tuition through the end of that notice period. Tuition is non-refundable, but we're always happy to work with families experiencing extenuating circumstances.
Performances & Recitals
Yes! We offer two performance opportunities each year for Little Dancin' Shoes and Academy students. Our Summer Dance Concert is held in July at the Irvine Barclay Theatre, and our Holiday Dance Concert takes place in December. These performances are highlights of the year where dancers showcase their progress and celebrate their achievements on a professional stage.
While we strongly encourage all dancers to participate in our recital (it's such a special experience!), participation is not mandatory. However, please note that choreography is taught with recital performance in mind, and non-participating dancers will still learn the recital routine as part of their regular classes.
Concert costs include:
- Concert fee (covers theater rental, production costs, tech rehearsal)
- Costume(s) for each routine (1 costume per class)
- Tickets for family and guests
- Optional: Professional photos/videos, flowers, etc.
We provide cost estimates and breakdowns in October (for the Holiday Concert) and May (for the Summer Concert) each year.
Dress Code & Attire
Each program has specific dress code requirements to ensure safety and proper technique instruction. General guidelines include:
- Ballet: Leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes, hair in bun
- Jazz/Tap: Fitted dancewear, tan jazz shoes or tap shoes
- Hip Hop: Comfortable athletic wear, clean sneakers
- Little Dancin' Shoes: Leotard or comfortable dance attire, appropriate shoes for each class
You'll receive detailed dress code information for your specific classes upon enrollment.
Dance attire and shoes can be purchased at local dancewear stores or online retailers. We can provide recommendations for stores in the Orange County area. Our staff is always happy to help you find the right shoes and attire for your dancer's needs.
Ballet classes require hair to be secured in a bun for safety and to allow instructors to see proper alignment and technique. Other classes require hair to be pulled back securely but may not require a bun. Specific hair requirements will be included in your class dress code information.

We're also excited to be installing 4K observation screens in our lobby and café areas, expected to launch in 2026, so you'll be able to watch your dancer anytime from the comfort of our waiting areas.
The studio is closed for major holidays and breaks. Typically, we close for:
- New Year's Day & New Year's Eve
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Veterans Day
- Thanksgiving and Black Friday
- Winter Break (December 22-31)
We communicate our holiday schedule well in advance through our newsletter and in-studio announcements. Tuition is adjusted to account for these closures.
Studio Policies
Regular attendance is crucial for dancer progress and success. We understand that illnesses and emergencies happen, but please notify us if your dancer will miss class. For recreational programs, we offer limited makeup classes based on availability. Competition team members have stricter attendance requirements due to group choreography needs.
Limited makeup classes are available for Academy and Little Dancin' Shoes students based on space availability. Makeups must be scheduled in advance and taken within 30 days of the missed class. Competition team members may have different makeup policies - please check with your team director.
Please keep your dancer home if they have a fever, are contagious, or are too ill to participate fully in class. This protects all of our dancers and staff. Dancers should be fever-free for 24 hours (without medication) before returning to class.
In the rare event of severe weather or emergency situations requiring studio closure, we will notify families via email, text, and social media as soon as possible. We will work to schedule makeup classes or adjust the calendar as needed.
